Clarity Genetics is a specialist clinical genetics practice. We provide genetic assessment, counselling and testing across a range of services for individuals, couples, children and families. Appointments are available in person in Sydney and by telehealth across Australia, and a wide variety of genetic tests are supported where clinically appropriate.
Genetic questions can arise at many points in life, when planning a family, during a pregnancy, in childhood, or when a condition appears to run in the family. Clarity Genetics brings together a specialist clinical geneticist and a genetic counsellor to provide assessment, counselling, and, where appropriate, genetic testing across these areas. A genetics consultation is more than a test. It is a careful assessment of your personal and family history, a clear explanation of what any results may mean, and support in deciding what is right for you. The services below outline the main areas of care. Each links to a dedicated page with further detail.
Most genetics services require a referral from a GP or specialist. This ensures access to Medicare rebates where eligible. Once a referral is in place, the practice team can help you arrange an appointment. This may be by telehealth or in person in the Sydney CBD.
Your consultation involves a detailed discussion of your personal and family history and, where relevant, an explanation of any testing options. Where genetic testing is appropriate, what it involves and what it can tell you are explained clearly before any decision is made. In most cases genetic tests can be carried out with a simple mouth swab, including for children.
Clarity Genetics accepts referrals from general practitioners and specialists across each of its service areas. A consultant report is provided following each consultation, and telehealth allows specialist genetic care to be accessed promptly both locally and across Australia.
Referral templates and the practice referral form are available on request. Further details for referrers are available on each individual service page and on the referrer information page.
