BBiotech(Med), MGenCouns, MHGSA (ID 23533)
Claire holds a Bachelor of Medical Biotechnology (2021) and a Master of Genetic Counselling (2024), both from the University of Technology Sydney.
Claire began her career in genetics research at GenieUs Genomics, contributing to genome sequencing research focused on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neurodegenerative conditions. As a patient liaison officer, she supported patients through the onboarding process, explaining testing and addressing their questions with clarity and care. This experience shaped her interest in bridging scientific knowledge with patient-centred support.
Claire later completed her Master of Genetic Counselling, gaining clinical experience in both paediatric and cancer genetics during her UTS placements. She now works as an Associate Genetic Counsellor and Practice Manager at Clarity Genetics, and also holds a position at the Prince of Wales Hereditary Cancer Centre, within South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.
Claire is developing a clinical focus in cancer, prenatal and cardiac genetics, with a particular interest in hereditary breast cancer. She is also interested in the psychosocial aspects of genetic testing and decision-making, an interest that grew from her Master’s research into how social norms and societal expectations may influence perceptions of obligation surrounding genetic testing.
Registered Genetic Counsellor with the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (MHGSA, ID 23533).
What draws Claire to genetics is the opportunity to support individuals and families as they navigate complex, often uncertain information and help them make sense of how genetics may be relevant to their lives. She is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centred care and to helping patients feel informed and supported throughout their genetics journey.
